Medical Malpractice Attorneys
If you believe that you, or someone you love, has been injured by a physician, nurse, or other medical error, you should seek the advice of a an experienced malpractice lawyer to review the medical records. Medical malpractice cases are very difficult to win under the best of circumstances. Special laws and procedures apply that are not favorable to claims by a patient. The only way to know if the evidence is strong enough to win a malpractice claim is to do a thorough investigation.
In Louisiana, you have only one year from the date of a negligent event to file your claim. The exception to that rule is that you may bring a claim within one year of the date you discover facts that make you think negligence may have occurred, within a maximum of three years after the medical negligence occurred. (In the case of death due to medical malpractice, you only have one year from the date of death of the patient.) In other states, different deadlines may apply, so always ask for an investigation as soon as possible after you learn that medical negligence may have occurred.
Not all bad outcomes are a result of negligence, so reviewing the medical record thoroughly is very important. If we find that you do have a valid claim, we have experienced medical-legal consultants ready to help guide you through the process.
